Stage Director
Frank has directed plays, musicals, and operas for theatre and opera companies throughout the country. His work has received popular and critical acclaim, including favorable reviews in the New York Times and Opera News, and a ‘Best Director’ designation in the statewide Ovation Awards from the Denver Post. He has also served as artistic director of Allegheny Highlands Regional Theatre and producing director of Gretna Theatre, and worked as a guest director for universities and conservatories.
In an earlier career, Frank stage managed regionally and on Broadway, working with directors and producers Harold Prince, Alexander Cohen, Nagle Jackson, and Liviu Ciulei, among others. Frank received his MFA in directing from Southern Methodist University, where he studied with renowned directing teacher Burnett Hobgood. He has published analysis and commentary on the works of Shakespeare and Tennessee Williams. An acting coach for actors and singers, he has also taught and served as chair of theatre at the University of Southern Mississippi and SUNY Brockport.
